I use a Dammar/wax varnish on the surface of my paintings, unless otherwise stated. I love the uneven textures that it brings to the acrylic and charcoal when it is polished. As there is wax in the finish I would advise that the painting is not placed over a direct form of heat ie: lighting candle, fire place or very strong, direct sunlight, as this may over time affect the surface of the painting.
